What is Kata-Yoga?
Kata is a method of leaning karate techniques in a predetermined pattern to simulate the self defense application of karate to an imagined opponent.
During a kata-yoga class we will take selected traditional kata and internalise the actions. We move with our breath and extend our movements to stretch, tone and release any held tension in our bodies, working slowly to achieve the fullest benefits.
The kata in this class is performed differently to what you see in the dojo, here we use kata as a gentle meditative practise.
Following our kata practise we take to our mats for a gentle, hatha yoga session followed by a beautiful semi guided mediation to consolidate the restorative benefits of an hour well spent.
